Boris Abramov was appointed by the Government of the Russian Federation as the Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in the United Kingdom in 2014.
Born in 1962, Dr. Abramov has more than 20 years of experience in the sphere of international economic and financial cooperation, which started in 1993 when he joined the Russian Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations. His professional experience subsequently includes working as the Deputy Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in China and the Chief Representative of the major Russian banks, Vnesheconombank and VTB Bank, in Beijing, China.
Dr. Abramov graduated from the Moscow State University, Institute of Afro-Asian Studies (cum laude) in 1984, with major in International Economic Relations. In 1992 he received a Ph.D. degree with specialization in International Trade. Dr. Abramov speaks fluent English and Chinese.
The Russian Trade Delegation in the United Kingdom is the foreign arm of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation established in London in 1920. The major tasks of the Trade Delegation include promotion of bilateral trade, assistance to Russian and British companies in doing business, support of two–way investment, and organization of activities of the UK-Russia Intergovernmental Steering Committee on Trade and Investment.
